ACTION ANN from the barn of improving trainer Christopher Pearson is the ante-post favourite for this Saturday’s 27th running of the Hotline Stakes for three-year-old fillies, which will be run over six furlongs at Caymanas Park.

The race have attracted nine runners and will carry a purse of $1.3 million, and is the first race on the road for this year’s Triple Crown. ACTION ANN, who will be partnered by former champion jockey Omar Walker, will run from gate seven.

Champion trainer Anthony ‘Baba’ Nunes’ pair of CHANDRA’S LAW, to be ridden by Ryan Lewis, and MAGICAL MOOD, with Dane Nelson aboard, are the other main contenders in the event and they will run from gate four and five, respectively.

Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL) Racing Secretary Denzil Miller said the island’s best three-year-olds will be on show, therefore he is expecting a very exciting event.

“I feel that this field is very competitive because, usually when you put the fillies together, you most times get a race that is very exciting,” said Miller. “With some much at stake, and based on our exercise reports, all the fillies have been doing quite well and looking comfortable in the mornings, and so we are really looking forward to them putting on an excellent showing on Saturday.”

Other top runners include SURE CURLIN (gate six) from the stables of Patrick Lynch, with jockey Robert Halledean, and THREE TIMES LUCKY (gate nine), with Anthony Thomas, from the barn of Wayne DaCosta.

The other horses in the event are MAGENTA (gate one) from the barn of former champion trainer Phillip Feanny, with veteran jockey Ian Spence; SILVER HAWK (gate two), who will be ridden by Dick Cardenas and is trained by Gary Subratie; and SECRET IDENTITY (gate eight) from the stables of Tensang Chung, who will be partnered by Linton Steadman.
