Windies bowlers tame Pakistan on day three

Fast bowlers Kemar Roach and Jayden Seales continued their good showing with the ball by grabbing two wickets each, to restrict Pakistan to 160 for five, batting a second time, which is a lead of 124 runs heading into today’s fourth day of the second Test at Sabina Park.
Captain Babar Azam continues to lead from the front with an unbeaten 54 while Faheem Ashraf is not out on 12, as Roach has so far picked up two for 15 and Seales two for 50.
Earlier, the West Indies, who resumed day three on 251 for eight, added just two runs to their overnight score, with pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi grabbing the last two wickets to wrap up the innings.
Afridi bowled Jomel Warrican for one, then trapped Joshua Da Silva in front for 21, to finish with four wickets for 59 runs.
With a lead of 36 runs, the West Indies were on the hunt for quick wickets, and that they got when Roach trapped Imran Butt in front with just one run on the board.
Fellow opener Abid Ali and Azhar Ali then began the recovery mission, and they took the score to 56 before Roach forced Azhar to play around one and was castled for 23.
Nine runs later, young pacer Seales decided he wanted in on the action, and he induced the edge of Abid for 34 and was snapped up at slip by Jason Holder, who had earlier put down a catch.
The Trinidadian pacer wasn’t done yet, and he produced another beauty of a delivery just on off stump, which Fawad Alam could do nothing but to tickle through to Da Silva for nought, to leave the visitors in a spot of bother at 65 for four.
That would be the only respite the home side would get for a while, as Azam and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan added 56 runs for the fifth wicket.
The duo countered with some attacking stroke play to increase their lead, after which the rains came to take the players off the field.
On the resumption with the score on 121, Jason Holder got one to seam outside off-stump, which Rizwan edged to the keeper for 30.
Azam found another useful partner in Ashraf, and they batted until late in the day while adding an unbeaten 39 runs for the sixth wicket to reach 160 for five.
Azam will resume today on 54 having hit seven fours, with Ashraf on 12 as the Pakistanis will be looking to add to their lead of 124 runs with five wickets in hand.
