KING ARTHUR yesterday rebounded from his dismal run in last month’s Legal Light Trophy, outfinishing SENTIENT and lightweight DOUBLE CROWN in the She’s A Maneater Trophy at a mile.

Partnered by Anthony Thomas, KING ARTHUR reproduced his sparkling form at exercise, racing third off a cracking pace set by AWESOME TREASURE and DOUBLE CROWN before making a bid at the leaders with three furlongs to run.

Running with topweight 126lb, KING ARTHUR, the 2020 Jamaica Derby winner, tackled DOUBLE CROWN coming off the home turn but had to be ridden out to hold his advantage over SENTIENT closing in tight quarters along the rail.

KING ARTHUR clocked 1:38.0 for a three-quarter length victory over SENTIENT. DOUBLE CROWN finished a half-length away for third.

Meanwhile, two-time reigning champion Anthony Nunes saddled three winners – GOLDEN WATTLE, DEVINE LEXIE and KING’S MAGICIAN – to erase Gary Subratie’s narrow lead in the trainers’ stakes race.

Dane Dawkins booted home two winners, QUEEN T at 4-1 in the opening event and 11-1 stunner, GAMBLER, in the eighth at seven furlongs.

Racing continues on Wednesday.
