Goalkeeper White training with Phoenix Rising
Cavalier sporting director, Rudolph Speid, is optimistic that goalkeeper Jeadine White will secure a move to Phoenix Rising in the United Soccer League (USL) before the start of their season in March.
White, a national goalkeeper, is currently in the United States in preseason training with the team on invitation from the Arizona-based club.
Speid said the situation looks positive for the 21-year-old White, who has trained with the club before.
“He is on preseason with the club. It is not a transfer. The club has invited him to train,” Speid noted
“I wouldn’t call it a trial. I think it is up to him. They only have two goalkeepers, so they definitely need a third.
“Jaedine has trained with them before, this is not the first. So once they invited him, it is a good sign. But we have to be patient,” he stated.
If White should move, Speid said the team would have lost their defensive spine that led them to the championship last season, with the departure of central defender Kamoy Simpson and central midfielder Melvin Doxilly to overseas clubs.
However, the tactician said they were always prepared for this.
EXCELLENT GOALKEEPER
“It’s about planning. We now have the St Lucian national goalkeeper (Vino Barclett). I always knew Jaedine was more than likely to leave. He is a part of the national team and an excellent goalkeeper,” Speid said.
Meanwhile, Simpson, who was on a five months deal to Once Deportivo de Ahuachapan in the El Salvador premier division, completed a permanent deal with the Central American club at the end of January.
St Lucian defender Doxilly, in the meantime, had his trial spell period extended by Polish fourth division club LSK Lagow.
Current players Richard King and Dwayne Atkinson have also been getting a lot of enquiries, Speid confirmed, but he is in no rush to move these players.
Jamoi Topey had an interest in December but nothing materialised before the close of the January transfer window.
