Sunshine Girls' star goal shooter Romelda Aiken has announced that she is expecting her first child.

Aiken, who plies her trade for the Queensland Firebirds in the Suncorp Super League in Australia, made the announcement on Instagram on Wednesday.

Aiken, who is a naturalised Australian citizen, posted:”@bigdangeorge and I are delighted to announce baby George is coming soon.”

The 33-year-old Aiken, a former Jamalco player, last represented the Sunshine Girls at the 2019 Netball World Cup in Liverpool, England.

Tricia Robinson, president of Netball Jamaica, said her association wishes her all the best in her pregnancy.

“It is amazing news and I am excited for her,” said Robinson. “I am happy for her and congratulations to her and her husband.”

“She is going to be a great mom and so she is going to enjoy every single moment. There will be a lot more netball to come after her pregnancy.

Aiken, who is regarded as one of the best netballers in the world, has played 15th consecutive seasons with the Firebirds.
