Jackson heads World Indoor team

Olympic Games 100 metres bronze medallist Shericka Jackson will headline Jamaica’s 19-member track and field team team at this year’s World Athletics Indoor Championships, which will be held in Belgrade, Serbia, March 18-20.

Sixteen women and three men were named today by the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association.

Jackson is down to compete in the 60 metres event along with Briana Williams. Roneisha McGregor and Stephenie Ann McPherson will run the 400m with Junelle Bromfield as the alternate. Natoya Goule is scheduled to compete in the 800m, Britany Anderson and Danielle Williams will run the 60m hurdles event.

In the field events, Kimberly Williams will take part in the triple jump while Danniel Thomas-Dodd is down to compete in the shot put event. Bromfield, McPherson, McGregor along with Janieve Russell, Tiffany James and Tovea Jenkins make up the country’s six-member pool for the 4x400m.

The three men named are Christopher Taylor, who is down to compete in the 400m, Ronald Levy in the 60m hurdles and Nigel Ellis in the 60m.

Ludlow Watts is the team manager while Paul Francis is the head coach. The assistant coaches are Sherone Simpson, Lloyd Clarke, Mark Elliott and Lennox Graham.
