DOHA 2019 World Championships silver medallist Danniel Thomas-Dodd was the only Jamaica winner at yesterday’s Mt Sac Relays in Walnut, California, winning the women’s shot put with a heave of 18.92 metres.

Thomas-Dodd connected her winning mark on her second attempt as the United States duo of Jessica Woodard, 18.77m, and Jesdica Rams, 18.71m, finished second and third, respectively.

Earlier at the meet, Olympic Games double female sprint champion, Elaine Thompson Herah, competing in her first outdoor 100-metre event, sprinted to a world-leading 10.89 seconds to win her heat.

However, Thompson Herah failed to show for the finals, which was won in a wind-aided (+3.3 mps) 10.77 seconds by the United States’ Twaneisha Terry.

Jamaica’s Briana Williams finished fifth in 10.97 seconds.

Triple jumper, Ackelia Smith, the former Edwin Allen high jumper, representing the University of Texas, just missed out on a top-three finish in the women’s triple jump, finishing fourth with 13.75 metres.

Olympian Damion Thomas produced a season’s best 13.71 seconds to finish fifth in the men’s 110m hurdles, as the United States’ Devon Allen, who recently signed a contract to play for the Philadelphia Eagles in the National Football League, won the event in 13.35 seconds.
