Free entry to bleachers stands for Carifta climax today
The Local Organising Committee of the Carifta Games has announced that entry to the bleachers stands will be free for today's final day of the event at the National Stadium in Kingston.
Spectators have been sparse over the past two days of the championships.
In a Twitter Spaces discussion last night, track and field fans bashed organisers for poorly promoting the event.
Meanwhile, the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association president, Garth Gayle, is urging Jamaicans to support the athletes.
"The athletes from the region deserve the support and we think to make the Games accessible is something they deserve," he is quoted as saying in a tweet posted to the Carifta handle.
Today's events got underway at 9 a.m and will culminate with the exciting 4x400m Boys Under-20 Final at 7:35 p.m.
This year, 27 countries and 461 athletes are participating in the Carifta Games.
