Williams, Clayton, Thomas-Dodd have last looks before Worlds

NATIONAL WOMEN’S 100m hurdles record holder and former World Champion Danielle Williams will be one of three Jamaicans competing in the Stockholm Diamond League today as they look to sharpen their skills ahead of the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

Williams, who has a season’s best of 12.59 seconds, will compete in a stacked race, headlined by reigning Olympic champion Puerto Rican Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, who is ranked third in the world with a time of 12.37.

The two will line up against two Americans in Nia Ali and Tia Jones, Nigerian Tobi Amusan, Bahamian Devynne Charlton, Polish Pia Skrzyszowska, and the Dutchwoman Nadine Visser.

Another Jamaican looking to get sharp is women’s 400m hurdles World Championship bronze medallist Rushell Clayton.

She will go up against Netherland’s Femke Bol, Italy’s Ayomide Temilade Folorunso, Britain’s Jessie Knight, Finland’s Viivi Lehikoinen, America’s Cassandra Tate, as well as Ukraine’s Anna Ryzhykova and Viktoriya Tkachuk.

Former World Championships silver medallist Danniel Thomas-Dodd will be in the shot put and will go up against American Chase Ealy, who has a world-leading mark or 20.51 metres.

Also in the line-up are Portuguese throwers Auriol Dongmo and Jesica Inchude; Canadian Sarah Mitton; Sweden’s Fanny Roose; Netherland’s Jessica Schilder; and another American, Jessica Ramsey.

Thomas-Dodd is currently ranked at number seven in the world.
