OregonGoldRush | Jamaicans miss out on first medal
Jamaica’s mixed 4x400-metre relay team finished fifth in the first final on the track at the World Athletics Champions inside the Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon this evening.
The team of Demish Gaye, Tiffany James, Karayme Bartley, and Stacey-Ann Williams clocked 3:12.71 seconds, good enough for fifth, in a race won by the Dominican Republic in 3:09.82.
The Dominican Republic were turning the tables on favourites United States, who finished third in 3:10.16 seconds.
That United States team included the 36-year-old Allyson Felix, who was now winning her 19th medal at a World Championships.
Second in the event were the Netherlands (3:09.82), who were anchored by 400 hurdles prodigy Femke Bol.
