LURE OF LUCY, ridden by jockey Anthony Thomas, wins the Errol ‘Big Sub’ Subratie Memorial Trophy race over one mile at Caymanas Park on October 19, 2021.

LURE OF LUCY certainly mellowed as a four-year-old last season, proving her versatility on Mouttet Mile Day, running a cracker against classic-winning stablemate MINIATURE MAN in the Chairman’s Plate at nine furlongs and 25 yards.

Returning at the trip on Monday in the Fan Appreciation Day Trophy, LURE OF LUCY should frank the Chairman’s Plate form that has played true in subsequent races, particularly the Betmakers Holiday Bonanza Trophy #1 won by PRINCE MARSHALL in a driving finish over POSITIVE ID at a mile.

PRINCE MARSHALL ran a cracker in the Chairman’s Plate at odds of 23-1, chasing LURE OF LUCY from the get-go, before MINIATURE MAN went second past him turning for home.

Returning two weeks later in the Betmakers Holiday Bonanza for which BLUE VINYL started as the howling 2-5 favourite, PRINCE MARSHALL stunned the 2000 Guineas and St Leger winner by storming in the last furlong at 23-1 with Dane Dawkins, outfinishing POSITIVE ID and PERFECT BREW.

It should be noted that POSITIVE ID had finished fourth in the Chairman’s Plate behind MINIATURE MAN, LURE OF LUCY and BRINKS, straightening seventh and closing up the lane but was no match for the first three past the post.

PERFECT BREW emerged the latest to frank the Betmakers Holiday Bonanza Holiday form and, by extension, the Chairman’s Plate in which he had finished seventh by scoring an out-of-class runaway victory in last Tuesday’s ninth race at six and a half furlongs.

Should the form be followed, LURE OF LUCY returning among overnight-allowance company with the pace to herself, points to a banker of all bankers with Omar Walker making every post a winning one.
