Sunshine Girls face opening-Test defeat

Jamaica's Sunshine Girls now trail England's Vitality Roses 1-0 in their three-Test series after a 73-52 defeat at Manchester's AO Arena earlier this evening.

The Roses, despite the big disparity in the scoreline, had to come from behind after captain, Jhaniele Fowler, led the visitors to a storming 19-13 first-quarter lead. But that gap closed toward the end of the half, with the Jamaicans leading 34-31.

The change in momentum saw the Roses take a 49-47 lead in the third quarter. That lead would never be relinquished and the Roses would pull away in the final 15 minutes to leave the result without doubt in the closing stages.

The teams will now move to the Copper Box Arena in London for back-to-back games on January 14 and 15.
