ARNETT GARDENS and Dunbeholden are both aiming for consistency when they meet in the feature Jamaica Premier League (JPL) game at Stadium East at 5 p.m.

Arnett thrashed Chapelton Maroons 5-0 the week before edging leaders Mount Pleasant 3-2 last week for their first back-to-back win of the season, and assistant coach Eric Rademakers said they are looking to keep their momentum.

“Anybody can play a one good match but if you want to be competing for the championship you cannot be a one-match team.

“So consistency is key, even if you do not win 10 in a row, you have to put a performance down that is acceptable or you cannot really go to the higher level and expect to perform,” he commented.

“We are not really looking at a streak. We just want to be consistent in delivering some quality performances.”

The ‘junglists’ have scored eight goals in their last two matches to climb to third in the table with 17 points and the Dutch man says they want to continue improving at both ends of the pitch.

“For us it is to try and keep a certain defensive discipline that I think we are improving on. So that is something we keep focusing on.

“We have scored eight in our last two games and we have to keep that momentum going and create a lot of chances in transition.

“So we hope we can keep scoring goals but we want to get back to a clean sheet because we have only two this season,” said Rademakers.

Dunbeholden, who are eighth with 12 points, have failed to register consecutive wins this term and their 2-0 win over Montego Bay United last week was their first in four games.

Coach Harold Thomas’ long-awaited return from personal business overseas has also boosted the St Catherine-based team.

Although Thomas admitted it will be difficult against the in-form Arnett, he is looking to establish some consistency in their performance.

“We are playing one of the in-form teams. It is expected that these games will post challenges but we are a team that revel in these situations.

“We are in the rebuilding stage. We lost a few players. But we have an excellent set of youngsters who want to do well and we anticipate that they will do very well in the game,” Thomas said.

“But what we have been working on is consistency. We have been showing quality in patches. We have done some work and we have seen some improvement and we are hoping for continued improvement. Once we get that we will be able to roll with the big boys.”
