MVP HEAD coach Paul Francis has confirmed that his athletes will not be participating in this evening’s session of the Queens/Grace Jackson Meet at the National Stadium.

Francis says that the decision was made in the best interest of the athletes given that the meet started almost 30 minutes behind schedule.

"Sometimes we just have to work with the hand that you are given. We had every intention of competing, which is why we were here from 8:00 a.m. this morning," Francis said.

"They would have (warmed up) and got cold and then you would have asked them to do sprints and that is not in their best interest."

World 200m champion Shericka Jackson competed earlier this afternoon in the 400m.

The pull out means there were no shows for athletes like Tajay Gayle, Stephenie Ann McPherson, Sada Williams, Tia and Tina Clayton, Athonique Strachan and Janeive Russell.

It also meant there were no senior 200 metres among the men.
