COMMONWEALTH GAMES gold medallist Lamara Distin continued to break new ground in her indoor campaign, extending her own national indoor high jump record at the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, South Carolina, today.

Distin, who established then national indoor record of 1.94m at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on February 5, went further with an effort of 1.97, equalling the national outdoor record she set last year.

Distin is currently tied fifth all time on the all-collegiate rankings with that 1.97 clearance.

The lanky high jumper had a stellar season last year, making the national team to the World Athletics Championships for the first time. At those championships, Distin made her first global final before going on to win gold at the Commonwealth Games.

Before that, Distin had won the NCAA Division One double (indoor and outdoor), remaining unbeaten in 2022 until the National trials where she was upstaged by Kimberly Williamson.
