THE ARNETT Gardens versus Waterhouse ‘El Clasico’, Jamaica Premier League (JPL) game on Monday night at the Anthony Spaulding Complex, will no doubt be the highlight of the round.

However, on Sunday, third-place Cavalier entertain last-place Chapelton FC in an interesting contest at the Jamaica College Ashenheim Stadium, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

In their last five matches, Cavalier have suffered two defeats, and though they also have two wins, coach Rudolph Speid has described the period as as their worst of the season.

Although he believes they are regaining their form, he thinks Chapelton are on a high after their first win under Clovis de Oliveira and he anticipates a spirited performance from his opponents.

“That (win) should let them feel much better. The coach getting his first win will perk them up and let them feel they can do something.

“They knocked over a decent team (Tivoli) that was doing very well and they will feel they can do the same to us, so they will be feeling confident.

“So it is a concern but the good thing is they need three points and I expect them to come and play for the points,” he said.

The veteran coach noted that he will be overseeing his 300th game in the top flight and he wants to mark the occasion with a special performance.

“We do not expect them to be cagey. I expect it to be a good spectacle for both of us. But if you are going to challenge for the title, you are going to have to beat teams like this,” he said.

POSITIVITY AND EXCITEMENT

After picking up his first win, Brazilian coach de Oliveira noted that the Chapelton camp is buzzing with positivity and excitement ahead of the game.

“It was a positive result and we deserved to win the game. No doubt, it boosted us,” he said.

However, de Oliveira made sure to point out that was only one win and with the team being eight points adrift of safety, they cannot take anything for granted.

“We didn’t win anything, we just won one game. And we are taking every game like a World Cup final. It was a good win, but let’s see what we can do next.”
