Under-20 World Championships triple jump winner, Jaydon Hibbert, has carved himself a place in history in his first NCAA Indoor Championships, setting a new world under-20 record.

Hibbert’s effort of 17.54 metres on his first attempt at the NCAA Indoor Championships in New Mexico this evening not only gave him the outright lead but erased both the indoor mark of 17.20 set by Melvin Raffin of France in March 2017 but the outdoor mark of 17.50 set by Volker Mai when he represented East Germany in 1985.

Hibbert has also erased the national indoor record set by Clive Pulllen in 2017 and is now the NCAA collegiate record holder.

Hibbert is currently leading the final, having passed on the second round.
