Tonyann Beckford, Roshawn Clarke fastest in Carifta Under-20 400mh prelims

Edwin Allen's Tonyan Beckford and reigning Carifta Games champion Roshawn Clarke set the pace in their Under-20 400 metres hurdles qualifiers on the second day of Carifta Trials at the National Stadium today.

Beckford had the fastest time among the qualifiers in the Under-20 girls, clocking 59.16 seconds to win her heat. Alliah Baker of Hydel had the second fastest with 59.93, while Annalice Brady of Holmwood Technical had the third fastest time of 1:00.66 minutes.

Meanwhile, Clarke had the fastest time in the Under-20 boys’ section clocking 51.35. Kingston College's Antonio Forbes had the second fastest time with 52.13, while Tyrece Hyman of Edwin Allen and Romario Stewart of Petersfield clocked 52.42, the third fastest time among the finalists.
