#Champs2023 | JC’s Jaiden Reid leads stacked 200m Class One field into semifinal round

Jamaica College’s (JC) 100 metres bronze medallist Jaiden Reid, leads the field in Class One 200 metres heats as he strolled to victory today at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.

Reid was clocked at 21.11 seconds to finish ahead of St Catherine High’s Ruvani Green, who clocked 21.94.

In Class Two, Kingston College’s (KC) Nyrone Wade was the fastest qualifier going into the semifinals with a 21.88 clocking, achieved topping heat five ahead of Calabar’s Donte Mendez, who took the second automatic spot in 22.50. Last night’s 100m bronze medalist Dontae Watson of JC, is also safely through as he captured heat six in 22.33 ahead of St. George’s Tyreece Freeman in 22.49.

JC’s Malique Dennis heads a stacked Class Three field into tomorrow’s semifinals following a measured 22.89 seconds as he took control of heat eight in the Class Three boys 200 metres over Cornwall College’s Thomas Daley, who finished second in a time of 22.98.

The reigning 100 metres champion Joshua Spence of KC was also safely through as he finished second, running in heat six in a time of 24.50 behind eventual winner Christopher Ellis of Calabar.
