#Carifta2023 | East, Todd through to U17 100 finals
Jamaica's Natrece East and Tramaine Todd will be the country's lone representatives for their respective categories in the under-17 100-metre finals at the 50th Carifta Games after strong semi-final performances in their semi-finals this afternoon.
East finished second in her semi-final in 11.83 seconds to book her place in the girls’ final but her teammate, Tiana Marshall, was fifth in her heat in 12.16 and was unable to gain a non-automatic qualifying spot in the final. Bahamanian Jamiah Nabbie (11.67) and St Lucian Naomi London (11.80) are among the other top finalists.
Meanwhile, Todd stormed to victory in his under-17 semi-final in 10.55, the fastest time among the field while teammate Khamani Gordon did not report for his semi-final heat. Ismael Rolle of Bahamas (10.80) and Ethan Sam of Grenada (10.87) are the other top qualifiers.
The finals are set to begin at 5:45 p.m. Jamaica time.
