I AM FRED, ridden by Reyan Lewis, wins the Viceroy Trophy over seven-and-a-half furlongs at Caymanas Park yesterday.

UNITED STATES-BRED I AM FRED pounced on MAHOGANY two and half furlongs out, quickening off the home turn, to win his third consecutive race, clocking an impressive 1:38.2 in yesterday’s Viceroy Trophy.

Reporting razor-sharp off a fast-time win against fellow importee RUNAWAY ALGO at six and a half furlongs on April 8, I AM FRED easily stalked MAHOGANY being dragged through a half-mile split of 46.4 and six furlongs in 1:12.0 by pacesetter KING ARTHUR with a featherweight 109lb.

In receipt of 11lb from MAHOGANY, I AM FRED made his bid three furlongs out, joining the topweight speedster approaching the home turn.

Relegated by I AM FRED entering the straight, MAHOGANY put on a brave face, attempting to rally. However, I AM FRED proved too strong on the lead, staying on to repel CALCULUS, closing from off the pace.

I AM FRED registered his second victory over MAHOGANY, who weakened into third, not appearing at his sharpest, considering he was bullied on the lead by KING ARTHUR.

HONOURS SHARED

Tevin Foster and Anthony Thomas shared rider honours with two winners apiece on the 10-race card.

Thomas produced RHYTHM BUZZ with a scorching late run along the rail to outfinish ARIA’S REIGN and ALL FOR LOVE in the Simply Magic Cup at a mile after landing the fourth with SCOOBY.

Foster teamed up with Anthony Nunes for a two-timer, ANCHORMAN in the second and CITY HAWK in the closing event for three-year-old maiden fillies at five furlongs straight.

Racing continues at Caymanas Park today with a nine-race card.
