PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania:

Jamaica College (JC) have lost the chance to defend their 4x800 metres Championships of America title after being disqualified today in the heats. The final will take place tomorrow.

JC posted the fastest time of 7:49.29 minutes to win their heat but was disqualified for using an ineligible athlete.

It is understood that three teams in the event protested the presence of Nicholas Power, who ran the second leg.

Power, formerly of Calabar, transferred to JC at the start of the school year and was unable to compete at the recent ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships (Champs) because of ISSA’s eligibility rule.
