PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania:
Cedricka Williams of Holmwood Technical High retained her high school girls’ Championships of America discus title in style today at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States of America.
Williams threw the implement 57.23 metres to break the 2016 record of 54.77 metres to lead a Jamaican sweep of the medals.
St Jago High’s Abigail Martin, who surprised Williams to win at the recent Carifta Games, finished second with 54.53 metres, while Brittanie Johnson of Camperdown High was third with 47.33 metres.
Najhade Seymore of Excelsior ended fifth with 45.51 metres.
