National striker Khadija Shaw has been crowned the 2022 Concacaf Women's Player of the Year.

The announcement was made this evening at the Concacaf Awards after a voting process that consisted of national coaches and players from the region as well as members of the media and fans.

The honour comes after a year where she played a vital role in the Reggae Girlz qualifying for the Women's World Cup for the second consecutive cycle.

For her club Manchester City, she has been prolific, scoring 15 goals in 19 league games in 2022, helping City to win the League Cup.

Shaw becomes the first Caribbean player in history to win the award.

Canada's Alphonso Davies won the Men's Player of the Year award for the second straight year, after helping Canada to qualify for their first Men's World Cup since 1986.

He scored Canada's first ever senior Men's World Cup goal against Croatia last December.
