Jamaica to defend title at Full Bore Shooting Champs

A strong eight-member Jamaican team led by Captain Phillip Scott will leave the island tomorrow for the 2023 West Indies Full Bore Shooting Championships which will be hosted at the Crabb’s Range in Antigua and Barbuda.
The other members of the team are reigning national Full Bore shooting champion Nicola Guy, two-time Amazon Trophy winner and O class champion Karen Anderson, five-time Wogarth Cup winner John Nelson, reigning Wogarth Cup champion Dwayne Ford, Canute Coley, Dennis Lee and Derek Mitchell. They will be looking to retain the regional Full Bore title.
The Full Bore features competitors shooting in a prone position from distances of 300 yards, 500 yards, 600 yards, 900 yards and 1000 yards. Jamaica is one of three countries in the Caribbean alongside Barbados and Guyana to have 900- and 1000-yards courses.
Shooters compete in three classes inclusive of the X class which comprises the top 15-20 shooters in the Caribbean. T Class category comprises any shooter participating in a regional shoot for the first time while the rest of the shooters are placed in the O class.
Full Bore is one of the few sports that both men and women compete against each other. The Amazon Trophy is usually awarded to the highest scoring female at the West Indies Full Bore Shooting Championships while the Wogarth Cup is awarded to the shooter who scores the highest total in the team match.
