Walk in the park for Miniature Man

MINIATURE MAN easily took control of yesterday’s Yvonne Mattis Cup three and a half furlongs out, peeling off from D HEAD CORNERSTONE, DADDY JONES, BIG BIG DADDY and STOMP THE RHYTHM, who afterwards chased the out-of-class runner to the wire with no chance of getting back on terms.

Sent off as the even-money favourite, MINIATURE MAN breaking widest from stall 10, practically handed Able an armchair ride aboard the 2021 Guineas winner whose pace proved superior among overnight allowance runners at eight and a half furlongs.

Needled by Able leaving the half-mile marker, MINIATURE MAN left rivals standing with only STOMP THE RHYTHM having the stomach to go in chase.

Paul Francis rode two winners including 4-1 debutant MONEY MARKET, making all for Ryan Darby, who saddled a three-timer on the 11-race card.

Darby’s first winner was via the stewards’ room after first-past-the-post DUKE OF SRINGS was disqualified for interference in the third, handing 28-1 outsider MASTER OF HALL the event with Jemar Jackson aboard.

BROMPTON ALEX closed fast on the outside in the seventh event, nabbing GRACEFULLY MADE at the wire after a pace collapse at five and a half furlongs.

Anthony Nunes also had longshot winners, opening the programme with LEADING LAD at 13-1, followed by 12-1 shot VOLATILITY with Francis in the ninth at five furlongs straight.

Leading rider Reyan Lewis moved to 39 winners, five clear of Tevin Foster, who was aboard disqualified DUKE OF SRINGS. Foster was ditched at the gate by his next mount, BADGYALRIRI, forcing him to stand down for the remainder of the meet.

Racing continues next week with three meets in four days – Saturday, Monday and Tuesday.
