Hibbert shortlisted for Bowerman award

National under-20 triple jump champion Jaydon Hibbert has been named a finalist for the Men’s Bowerman Award, the top track and field individual honour in collegiate athletics.

The announcement was made today after the former Kingston College jumpered enjoyed an excellent freshman year at the University of Arkansas, claiming the indoor and outdoor NCAA titles, setting records in the process.

Hibbert broke the under-20 world record this season with an effort of 17.87m and is currently the best jumper in the world this year.

The University of Georgia's Kyle Garland and the University of Texas' Leo Neugebauer are the other finalists for the award.

The three finalists for the women are Texas' Julien Alfred, Florida's Jasmine Moore and Hibbert's teammate, Britton Wilson.
