Jamaica booked their place in the quarterfinals of the Men's Lacrosse World Championships after a 7-6 win in their first-round playoff match this evening in San Diego, California.

Jamaica, who were seeded 10th, scored the upset over the seventh-seeded Italians thanks to a hatrick from Khairi Sears,  two goals from Marcus Minichello, and goalkeeper Nate McPeak making six saves on 12 shots.

With their spot in the final eight clinched, they have secured their best-ever performance in a Men's World Championship and are now unbeaten in five games.

Jamaica will face second-seeded Canada in their quarterfinal clash tomorrow.
