THE SECOND fastest man in history, Yohan Blake, has donned the Adidas brand for most of his career, but come the JAAA National Junior and Senior Championships, he will be gearing up in a PUMA outfit.

“A new chapter begins. Welcome, @yohanblake to the PUMA family,” read a joint Instagram post between Blake and Puma Running.

The 2022 100-metre national champion will be looking to take another win this year and try to claim his second World 100m Champion.

Blake became the youngest man in history to claim this title at 21 at the World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, in 2012.

His season’s best stands a far cry from his best days at 10.05 seconds, and even among Jamaicans, the time only makes him the fifth-fastest Jamaican this year behind Ackeem Blake at 9.89, Oblique Seville with 9.95, Bouwahjgie Nkrumie who ran 9.99, and Julian Forte who has clocked 10.03.

The 33-year-old is set to face these athletes at the National Championships, which begins today

They will be vying for a spot to compete at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, scheduled for August 19-27.

Blake has represented Jamaica at four World Championships.

Recent Jamaican members of the PUMA Running family include World’s fastest woman alive, Elaine Thompson Herah, who left Nike to ink a deal in 2022 and World Junior triple jump champion, Jaydon Hibbert.

Jamaican and World’s fastest man in history, Usain Bolt, was a PUMA athlete throughout his career and in 2013, became the first-ever athlete to sign a lifetime deal with the sports apparel giants.
