YELLOWSTONE gets a great draw, widest at stall six to quickly circle rivals at five and a half furlongs in Tuesday’s Betting Gaming and Lotteries Commission (BGLC) Trophy feature event for open-allowance runners.

Vastly improved since the back end of last season into this year, YELLOWSTONE completed a hat trick of five-and-a-half furlong events on January 29, before being caught at five furlongs round by EMPEROROFTHECATS in his bid for a four-timer on March 23 – a gallant run in splits of 23.0, 34.0 and 45.3 – giving up seven pounds to the winner, who beat him by two and a half lengths.

An ambitious attempt to wrest the lead from RUNAWAY ALGO at six and a half furlongs in his next race saw YELLOWSTONE being outsped but coming off the home turn three lengths behind I AM FRED and the speedster, ahead of SHE’S MY DESTINY, but relegated inside the final furlong to finish sixth of 13 runners.

SECOND-PLACE FINISH

YELLOWSTONE followed up with a second-place finish to five-furlongs straight specialist EMPEROROFTHECATS on May 27, an event in which he had none other than howling favourite RUNAWAY ALGO a length behind in fourth, finishing heads-on with third-place DUKE.

Tackling graded stakes company last time out, he led SHE’S MY DESTINY at five and a half furlongs before the proven grade-one runner took charge coming off the home turn. Proving he was tough as nails, YELLOWSTONE stayed second to well inside the final furlong before being relegated to fourth by closers KING ARTHUR and MINIATURE MAN.

Reporting at his favourite trip with only GOD OF LOVE to fear, YELLOWSTONE looks set to make all. GOD OF LOVE might have won convincingly on July 1 but did so at his pet trip and happy hunting ground, overnight allowance, with no matching speed.

Returning to open-allowance level, breaking from stall one, GOD OF LOVE will have a tough task overhauling a super-fit YELLOWSTONE.
