McDonald, Thompson-Herah make relay pool, Clunis makes history
Jamaica's 65-member squad to the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary was announced today with quarter-miler Zandrion Barnes making the team and double Olympic sprint champion Elaine Thompson-Herah joining the relay pool being among the highlights.
Barnes was added to the men's 400m team ahead of Rusheen McDonald, who is in the relay pool for the mixed relays.
Among the other questions answered is who will make the women's 200-metre team.
That question was answered with the names Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Natalliah Whyte and Kevona Davis.
According to Selection Committee chairman, Lincoln Eatmon, Fraser Pryce did not indicate to the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association that she was not running the event hence her inclusion.
The list includes a sense of history as well, with Nayoka Clunis becoming the first Jamaican to compete in the women's hammer throw at a World Championships.
