Jamaica mine gold, silver at World University Games
Jamaica’s Kadrian Goldson struck gold in the men’s 100 metres today at the World University Games in Chengdu, China, after stopping the clock at 10.04 seconds.
Goldson finished ahead of South Africa’s Phatutshedzo Maswanganyi, who clocked 10.06 seconds and China’s Guanfeng Chen, who rounded off the top three spots in a time of 10.17.
In the men’s discus throw final, Jamaica’s Kai Chang took the silver medal with a season’s best of 61.82 metres, which he achieved in his second attempt.
Poland’s Oskar Stachnik won the event with his season’s best 63 metres, while Algeria’s Oussamma Khennoussi, with a personal best of 61.33 was third.
Jamaica’s third representative Mickaell Moodie failed to progress beyond the women's 100 metres semi-final, following her fourth-place finish in semi-final two.
