DEFENDING REPUBLIC Bank Caribbean Premier League champions, the Jamaica Tallawahs, looked a little short of starpower recently, but the inclusion of England opener Alex Hales certainly gives them that dimension.

The three-time champions lost their skipper, Rovman Powell, to the Barbados Royals earlier this year, and while boasting the team make-up the manager says the team was looking for, seemed lacking in real star attraction.

Captained by Brandon King, who, along with Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim are likely the most well-known players on the team, there is no shortage of talent, but with the inclusion of World Cup winner Hales, the team may put some extra bums in seats.

Hales will replace Naveen ul Haq, who is no longer available and brings more than 400 games of experience to the Tallawahs line-up.

King and Hales certainly make for a formidable opening partnership.

Hales is also one of just nine players to have scored more than 10,000 runs in the format. He is the highest English run scorer in the T20 format and has experience of playing in the CPL, having won the tournament with the Barbados franchise in 2019.

Hales will join the Tallawahs once his commitments in England have been completed.
