Jamaica’s hope of securing a medal in the men’s triple jump was dashed earlier today with Jaydon Hibbert suffering a hamstring injury on his first attempt at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Hibbert had qualified for the final with the furthest leap following his 17.70-metre effort and was favourite for a gold medal.

However, the world under-20 record holder was then forced to pass on his final two attempts.
