#BudaQuest | Jackson is the only Jamaican in women’s 200m final
Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson is on course to defend her 200 metres title after easing to 22.00 seconds to win semi-final three at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary today.
Jackson was in command as she crossed the finish line ahead of the 100 metres champion Sha’Carri Richardson of the United States of America (USA), who clocked 22.20 and Marie-Josée Ta Lou of the Ivory Coast, who finished in a season’s best of 22.26.
Jamaica’s Natalliah Whyte clocked 22.52 seconds for third in the semi-final one, won by USA’s Gabby Thomas in 21.97, with Dina Asher-Smith of Great Britain finishing second in 22.52.
Kevona Davis finished fifth in her heat in 22.34 seconds as Julien Alfred of St Lucia won in 22.17, with Great Britain’s Daryll Neita second in a personal best of 22.21.
