RUNAWAY ALGO yesterday cemented his status as the country’s top-rated horse.

Carrying topweight 126lb at a mile, he demolished fellow United States-bred I AM FRED by eight lengths to clock 1:38.0 in the She’s A Maneater Trophy.

Raddesh Roman remained unbeaten aboard the American speedster in three rides, scoring his 100th career win by rating the four-year-old colt in third on the far side, outfoxing stablemates OUTBIDDER and I AM FRED, who found themselves contesting the lead before RUNAWAY ALGO knifed between horses a half-mile out.

Roman’s crippling move dragged I AM FRED off his bridle to go in chase, similar to the seven-furlong Eros Trophy in which RUNAWAY ALGO beat him by almost six lengths on July 1.

Ridden to keep pace with RUNAWAY ALGO in cruise mode, I AM FRED raised the white flag a furlong and a half out, settling for second as his rival sped home unbothered.

RUNAWAY ALGO’s dominant display has made the Algorithms-Misunify colt the summer favourite for December’s US$150,000 Mouttet Mile with grade-one in disarray, bar any foreign invader.

MAHOGANY failed to raise a serious gallop in the Eros and I AM FRED seemingly hitting his peak, leaves last year’s Jamaica Derby winner, ATOMICA, as the only horse domiciled locally with any chance of testing Dale Murphy’s RUNAWAY ALGO.

I AM FRED being humbled in back-to-back races kept leading rider Reyan Lewis on one winner for the afternoon, LUCY IN THE SKY beating stablemate HIMAYA in a four-horse line-up of two-year-old maidens in the second event at three furlongs straight.

Tevin Foster starred in the saddle with three winners, opening his account aboard 6-5 favourite BUCKALUCK in the third, beating $250,000 claimers at four and a half furlongs straight.

Foster followed up aboard 7-2 chance PREMIER IDENTITY in the sixth at five furlongs straight, closing aboard the filly to overhaul NEO STAR, handing trainer Howard Jaghai his 100th career winner.

Foster moved his season’s tally to 51, six behind second-place Dane Dawkins in the jockeys’ standings, by producing 7-1 mild-upsetter MILOS with a storming rail run to overhaul money-back favourite BOOTYLICIOUS, a quarter-furlong out in the ninth event at six furlongs.

Racing continues this afternoon with a 10-race card highlighted by a mandatory payout on the Reggae 6, which could swell to $10 million, considering a bonus of almost $6 million being carried over from yesterday’s card.
