Jamaica’s Shaw nominated for Ballon d’Or award
Jamaica and Manchester City Striker Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw has been shortlisted for the 2023 women’s Ballon d’Or award.
The 26-year-old Shaw finished second in last season’s Women's Premier League golden boot race, tallying 20 goals. England and Aston Villa striker Rachel Daly topped the scoring charts with 22 goals.
Shaw, who scored 31 goals from the 30 games she played in all competitions, the most ever in a single season for a Manchester City player, was also named to the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Barclays Women’s Super League Team of the Year, and was nominated for the PFA women's player-of-the-year award.
Shaw also captained Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz to a historic round-of-16 berth at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, helping to improve the team’s ranking to a best-ever 37th overall.
