INTRESTNTIMESAHEAD, ridden by Phillip Parchment, wins Boxing Day’s 122nd running of the Jamaica two-year-old Stakes over a mile at Caymanas Park yesterday.

INTERESTNTIMESAHEAD ACCELERATED rapidly from sixth position, three and a half furlongs out, to turn for home chasing RUN JULIE RUN, collaring the grey filly midway the stretch run for an impressive three-length win in yesterday’s Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes at a mile.

Partnered by Phillip Parchment for champion trainer Jason DaCosta and his owner-breeder mother, Elizabeth, INTERESTNTIMESAHEAD was one of only two colts in the 10-horse field, emulating Richard Azan’s MOJITO, who similarly toppled fillies in last year’s race.

Sent off at odds of 9-1, despite winning by 10 lengths at six and a half furlongs on his second start nine days prior,INTERESTNTIMESAHEAD sat comfortably off the hectic half-mile split of 46.3 set by stablemate BANADURA being pressed by MATUSO and RUN JULIE RUN.

RUN JULIE RUN cruised to the lead entering the home turn, getting rid of BANADURA and MATUSO but was quickly pounced on by INTERESTNTIMESAHEAD, WHOSE sweeping move leaving the three-furlong marker put the grey filly in Parchment’s cross hairs.

Roused by the journeyman, INTERESTNTIMESAHEAD leapt forward along the rail to inhale RUN JULIE RUN at the patrol judge’s rostrum a furlong and a quarter out.

RUN JULIE RUN had no answer to the Bold Conquest-My Friend Lucy colt, who quickened away, flashing past the post in 1:39.2 as though he was ready to complete a circuit if not eased.

RUN JULIE RUN stayed on for second with Omar Walker, signalling to the fillies’ brigade that she will be one tough cookie come next year’s Portmore, 1000 Guineas, and Jamaica Oaks.

Meanwhile, INTERESTNTIMESAHEAD, as his name suggests, could be a Triple Crown winner in the making should none of his peers improve as three-year-olds next season.

Oneil Mullings rode two winners on the 10-race Boxing Day card, opening the programme astride 5-1 shot LION TALK at six furlongs, returning to land the eighth at the same trip aboard CITY HAWK at 4-1.

Racing continues on Saturday followed by Monday’s New Year’s Day meet.
