Jourdaine ‘Jay Jay’ Fletcher (centre) returns to Montego Bay United after playing in Albania and is joined in training this morning by fellow Jamaican Courtney Allen (left) and Trinidad and Tobago’s Darnell Hospedales. The three are among seven players who will join Montego Bay for the second round of the Jamaica Premier League.

Seven additional players will join Montego Bay United (MBU) for the second round of the Wray and Nephew-sponsored Jamaica Premier League(JPL) competition.

According to MBU, in an announcement during a training session at their Wespow Park home field in Montego Bay this morning, familiar faces will suit up for the remainder of the season, with the transferees including four Jamaicans, two Trinidadians and one St. Lucian.

MBU stated that homegrown player Jourdaine ‘Jay Jay’ Fletcher, who plays forward, is returning. He recently played in the southeastern European country Albania and is a former national team player.

The other players are: Gregson President – St Lucia; Josiah Trimmingham and Darnelll Hospedales – Trinidad and Tobago; and Daniel Reid, Owayne ‘Turtle’ Gordon and Courtney Allen – Jamaica. Gordon, like Fletcher, played for Montego Bay before.

Fletcher stated he is pleased to return to local soil and has been working well in training, hoping to help MBU climb up the JPL points standing. MBU are 10th with 15 points after winning four games and losing six while conceding 22 goals.

“This is a boost for the team. I think it is going to be a very good rest of the season. ‘Turtle’, Brian Brown and I are a very massive, great attacking team. Our aim now is to go to the top six in the competition.

Meanwhile, Hospedales said he intends to do his best.

“This is my first time in Jamaica and defensively, I want to bring some energy to the team. I want to bring aggression to the team and defend as much as I can. I will try my best to keep out the opposition wingers and things like that. I want to gather as many assists as I can for my teammates.

MBU will host Lime Hall Academy on Wednesday at 3 pm.
