MUSCHETT HIGH School’s Class Two athlete Johan Smythe will be hoping to continue his good start to the season when he contests the 100 metres at today’s On Di Run Sprint Fest at G.C. Foster College starting at 2 p.m.

Competing on back-to-back days two weeks ago, Smythe clocked a personal best 21.89 at the On Di Run Sprint Fest 200 metres at Jamaica College to record the second fastest time overall in his class, just behind Calabar High’s Nickecoy Bramwell with a personal best 21.77.

He returned the following day at the same venue, at the Pure Water/JC/R. Danny Williams meet to win the Class Two 100 metres in 10.78 seconds, the only sub-11 time on the day in the class. Another fast time is expected from him today as he steps up his preparation for the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Championships. He will be joined in the event by St Jago High’s Detarge Morgan who was third best at Jamaica College in the 200m in 22.60s, along with his teammate Ray Reece and Kingston College”s duo of Timothy Purrier and Nyron Wade.

Raheem Pinnock of St Jago High will lead the charge in Class One where he has a personal best of 10.89. His teammate Tjari Duffus along with Muschett’s Osmond Holt, Jauvaughn Pinnock of New Era Track Club and Zachary Cox of Cornwall College are all listed to compete here.

St Jago’s girls, after a good start to their season at last Saturday’s JAAA/PUMA/Fuller/Anderson meet, will be well represented in the event today. Kryshelle Hoolang, the top female performer in Class One 200m at that meet, will headline the Monk Street-based team in the Class One 100m. Teammates Quana Walker and Seanna Gaye Leslie will join her while Holmwood Technical’s Kiara Meikle and Monique Proudlove will be hoping to spoil the St Jago party.

St Jago will also be well represented in Class Two 100m as Bryana Davidson, Briana Campbell and Poshanna Lee Blake will face the starter in this event.

Holmwood’s pair of Maya Oakley and Maria Baker will lead the charge in Class Three while St Jago’s Chelsea Ann Samuels, the former Half-Way Tree Primary top athlete, will make her Class Four 100 metres debut for her new school.
