St. Jago High’s Kimeka Smith was in record-breaking form to win the gold medal in the Class Two girls’ shot put at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium today.
Smith, with her second attempt, covered a distance of 16.44 metres to erase the old mark of 15.99 metres, which Danielle Sloley of Immaculate Conception High set in 2018.
Clarendon College’s Marla-Kay Lampart also surpassed the old standard, as she threw 16.02 metres, which won her the silver medal.
Smith’s St Jago teammate Rehanna Biggs completed the medal-taking spots with a mark of 14.61 metres.
