Excelsior won the ISSA/GK Insurance Twenty20 (T20) Urban Area schoolboys cricket title after defeating Kingston College (KC) by 181 runs at Melbourne Oval on Friday.

Excelsior, beaten finalists last year, posted a mammoth 244 for five from their allotment of 20 overs, then restricted KC to 63 from 14.4 overs.

The champions' innings was spearheaded by Justine Adlam, who smacked a swashbuckling 86 runs, with opener Demarco Scott anchoring with 61 not out and Michael Clarke hitting an aggressive 43.

In their turn at the crease, KC failed to build any significant partnership to challenge the score, as they lost wickets at regular intervals to succumb easily to the Excelsior onslaught. Their top scorer was Kev-Andre Virgo, who made 25 as they had three runouts with Tamarie Redwood capturing four wickets for nine runs for Excelsior.
