It was a massive win for Jamaican judo in the men's 60kg round of 32 as Ashley McKenzie defeated Yemen's Hesham Makabr to begin Jamaica's Paris Olympic Games quest at the Champ de Mars Arena.

McKenzie ended the contest with a decisive throw, winning by ippon just four seconds below the three-minute mark.

The contest also saw three penalties throughout, with two being handed to Yemeni Makabr, while McKenzie was penalised once.

McKenzie advances to the Round of 16 where he will face Salih Yildiz of Turkey.
