Clayton and Salmon through to Olympic 400m hurdles final

National champion Rushell Clayton and Shiann Salmon are the only Jamaicans through to the final of the Olympic women's 400m hurdles following semi-final action at the Stade de France. 

Clayton took the opening semi-final in 53 seconds flat, beating Jasmine Jones of the United States who qualified for the final with a time of 53.83 seconds.

Compatriot Salmon put in a spirited performance and finished third in semi-final three following her personal best time of  53.13 seconds.

Femke Bol of the Netherlands secured the victory following her time of 52.57 seconds with Anna Cockrell qualifying in second place with a time of 52.90 seconds.

Canadian Savannah Sutherland will also line up in the final after finishing in fourth place with a time of 53.80 seconds.

Jamaica's Janieve Russell failed to make it into the final after finishing fourth in semi-final two following her time of 54.65 seconds.

The event was won by defending Olympic champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone who clocked a blistering 53.13 seconds. France's Louise Maraval secured her place in the final after finishing second with a time of 53.83 seconds.
