Frazsiers Whip get boost from McKay Security

SPORTS-SUPPORTING FIRM, McKay Security, a consistent sponsor of sporting genres - including pistol-shooting competitions, martial arts, men’s football, netball and horse racing - has extended its sponsorship dollar to national women’s football champions, Frazsiers Whip FC.

The only Caribbean team to have participated in the recent Concacaf Women’s Champions Cup, Frazsiers Whip FC benefitted from a $500,000 McKay Security sponsorship, which went a far way in assisting the St Catherine club with expenses incurred during their home-and-away campaign.

Frazsiers Whip endured a tough Concacaf Women’s Champions Cup debut, exiting the group stage with four defeats in as many games following their 13-0 home drubbing at the hands of NJ/NY Gotham FC.

However, Dr Jason McKay, chairman of McKay Security, who recently challenged Elaine Walker-Brown for presidency of the St Catherine Football Association, said his company’s investment in Frazsier’s Whip was not done with an eye on match results at the international level.

“It is important that we participate in these tournaments, once eligible, irrespective of the results. It is only by competing at a higher level that we will improve,” McKay explained.

“We had earmarked a significant portion of our marketing budget in preparation for the ‘football rescue’ in St Catherine, had I taken over as president. However, the funds will be spent differently from initially planned because of a pending defamation suit against Walker-Brown, involving a previous sponsorship,” McKay added.

“We are interested in assisting women’s football but the court action rules out organisations that Walker-Brown is affiliated with, such as the St Catherine Football Association and national women’s programme, hence the direct contribution to Frazsier’s Whip as national champions,” he added.

McKay Security also plans to hand over kits for 40 male teams in the St Catherine Football Association, “manufactured to specifications ordered by the teams themselves and will be distributed soon”, he pointed out.

“We have other great surprises planned this season for football and are committed to working with administrators and teams who share a similar vision of what we believe local football can become,” he added.
