Glenmuir netballers face tricky encounter

WHEN THE second set of matches in the ISSA Rural Schoolgirl Netball competition gets underway this morning, one of the fancied teams in the competition, Glenmuir High, will be involved in a tricky affair.

After mixed results in their opening games on Tuesday where their junior team was beaten 32-14 by Titchfield, before the senior team got by the same opponents 29-9 in a rain-shortened game, they will head to G.C. Foster College where they will be up against Dinthill Technical, who are coming off wins in their opening matches.

Glenmuir’s juniors will face a Dinthill team coming off an impressive 50-1 win over Mile Gully at 10:30 a.m., while the senior teams face off at 11:30 a.m.

Dinthill’s seniors, who, like their opponents are unbeaten this season, got by Brown’s Town 34-25 in their opening game.

Dinthill are favoured to get the better of Glenmuir in the junior match, which could put a dent on the Clarendon team’s chances of advancing to the quarter-finals. On the other hand, Glenmuir should get the better of their opponent in the senior game. Glenmuir have one of the top teams among seniors, even though they suffered a preliminary-round defeat to Denbigh.

After being beaten 20-16 by Mile Gully in their opening junior game, defending champions Manchester High cannot afford another defeat today when they go up against Hampton at St Elizabeth Technical at 10 a.m. Following their impressive 67-8 win over Alphansus Davis, the Manchester High senior team should continue their winning ways when they go up against Maggotty at 11 a.m.
