An appeal to NSWMA

Published:Tuesday | January 12, 2010 | 12:00 AM

The Editor, Sir:

This is a copy of my letter to the National Solid Waste Management Authority, sent January 11, with the hope that such incidents do not recur.

To Whom It May Concern:

I am demanding your immediate attention to having the garbage from my home in The Aviary, Old Harbour, removed immediately!

After two and a half weeks of no garbage collection, a big white 'Vulture' truck came into the community on Sunday, January 10, and collected the garbage from all the houses on Bluequit Circle except mine and my neighbour's - our houses are in the middle of a row of houses.

My garbage is properly containerised as is that of my neighbour and very accessible to the garbage truck. The quantity is the same as all the other neighbours (two and a half weeks' worth!) and I am very puzzled why my garbage and that of my neighbour's was not collected.

I am upset, disgusted and embarrassed by what I hope is an oversight by your collection team and will only be pacified by the immediate removal of the garbage. I am a proud homeowner who promptly pays all taxes as I know that I will benefit from a clean, safe and healthy environment.

I only hope that you are serious about 'Jamaica's Beauty is Our Duty' and will now carry out your end of the bargain.

I am, etc.,

M WILLIAMS
