Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award when the western Jamaica-based Linkz 96FM hosts its second Linkz Awards - The Cupid Edition at Margaritaville in Montego Bay on Friday, February 12.
"Once again, we will be recognising the contribution that talents from western Jamaica have made to the development of the Jamaican entertainment industry," said Roger Allen, CEO of Linkz FM. "It is our belief that the works of these talented individuals should not go unrecognised."
First time
The award ceremony, which was the first of its kind when it was conceptualised and executed in 2009, covers various categories and aspects of entertainment to include artistes, promoters, producers, sound systems, events and venues.
"The categories for this award show are unique as they speak directly to the colourful variety that make up the entertainment scene of the west," said Allen. "Some of these categories include Best Cabaret Performer, Best Car Sound, Best Festival and Best Stunt Biker, to name a few."
