He is not a health-care professional, but chef Richard Nurse nurtures the taste buds of his long list of repeat and new customers who dine at the serene and exquisite 50-seater House Boat Grill in Montego Bay.

Romance is not the only thing that floats around on the House Boat Grill restaurant, but the sweet aroma of local spices coming from Nurse's kitchen dance around the nostrils and stimulate the need to ingest his culinary works of art.

Nurse, who is not only the executive chef at the restaurant but the owner, revealed that cooking provides that type of relief and comfort that he believes, does not exist in another profession that he could imagine.

"At one point in my life I thought about doing technical drawing, but cooking was my pull. It literally drew me in! It provides instant gratification from customers. When customers taste a nicely cooked meal, you can see it on the faces and knowing that I contributed to such an experience is just wonderful," the top chef noted.

Food is not the only feature that seduces customers at this unique restaurant. The breathtaking experience of dining on water in an actual boat under the elegance of the moon and stars, can be quite seductive and make you fall for this particular establishment.

"The allure of a one-of-a-kind restaurant in Jamaica, coupled with great food, is a great combination," he proudly smiled. "We are famous for our lobster and we have a lobster pit where persons can chose theirs and I prepare it to their specifications. For Restaurant Week it will be just as special for everyone who dines here," Nurse added.

After cooking professionally for the last 19 years, Nurse shows no sign of slowing down. In fact he catches his own fish and prepares it for customers when he has his 'Catch of the Day' culinary fete.

Participating in The Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week for the very first time, the team at House Boat Grill has high expectations to introduce more Jamaicans to the piece of hidden treasure in Montego Bay. They are intent on offering both a culinary and fine dining experience like no other.
