Popular Mandeville businessman/videographer Chris Gooden died in a motor-vehicle accident early yesterday morning along the Winston Jones Highway near Greenvale in Mandeville, Manchester.

According to reports, Gooden was returning from a wedding in Montego Bay, St James, for which he was contracted to video. He dropped off a friend, photographer Gregory Bennett, at his home in Fairfield Mountain in Manchester and was heading home. Gooden, 40, slammed into the back of a parked trailer truck less than 10 minutes away from his home. He died on the spot.

The driver of the truck is being questioned by the Mandeville police who are investigating the accident.

"I can't believe that he is dead. He dropped me off just before it happened," said Bennett, who had accompanied Gooden on the trip to Montego Bay to work at the wedding.

Bennett added: "He was in a good mood all day, I took the last photo of him, a picture with the bride who was a good friend of his."

Hundreds of people turned up at Gooden's home, on Atkinson Drive, off New Green Road, where he lived with his parents.

Persons were seen showing their sympathy, especially to his mother, a nurse who works at the eye clinic at the Mandeville Hospital.

"He was a very friendly person, a guy that is always helping people. If you ask him for something and him don't have it, he will go and get it for you," said a close friend of Gooden's who asked to remain anonymous.
